3-year lane closure along Tun Dr LCE Expressway begins today for Mutiara Line LRT
A long-term 24-hour lane closure will be implemented along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway from Oct 1, 2026 until Aug 31, 2029 to facilitate preliminary works for the Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.
The closure, which will last for 1,065 days, will affect the rightmost lane in both directions between Gat Lebuh Cecil and Gat Lebuh Noordin. The rightmost lane at the Gat Lebuh Cecil junction, including the right-turn lane into Gat Lebuh Cecil, will also be closed in both directions.
According to Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp), motorists wishing to turn right can use the alternative right lane provided, while all other existing lanes along the affected stretch will remain open to traffic.
Safety barriers, traffic cones, flagmen and the Project Emergency Response Team will be deployed at the site to assist with traffic flow and safety. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and follow directional signage.
The lane closure is part of preliminary works for the Mutiara Line, including bored piling and related construction activities.
Last month, MRT Corp awarded the RM3.03 billion system turnkey contract to a joint venture between Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) and Theta Edge Bhd. The 29km LRT project is targeted for completion in December 2031.
