Juru road upgrade phase two set to open on Oct 10
The second phase of a road upgrading project along Jalan Perusahaan, connecting to Jalan Delima in Juru, Central Seberang Perai, is expected to open to traffic on Oct 10.
Penang Infrastructure and Transport Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari said the upgrading works involve widening the existing single-carriageway road into a dual carriageway. The project is being carried out in two sections, with completed portions opened progressively to ease traffic movement.
The first section, involving the construction of a bridge near the Perodua service centre in Perai, has been completed and was opened to vehicles on Sept 21. The second section, involving another bridge near the Premium Sound Solutions Sdn Bhd factory, is currently about 93% complete and is scheduled to open on Oct 10.
Zairil said remaining works would continue after the main road infrastructure is opened, with the overall project expected to be fully completed at a later stage.
The road is an important route serving the surrounding industrial and residential areas, connecting Juru Auto-City, Juru village and Taman Delima. It also provides an alternative route towards Penang Science Park and the Bukit Tambun area in South Seberang Perai.
The phased opening of the upgraded road is expected to help improve traffic flow and reduce congestion along surrounding routes, particularly while other road upgrading works are ongoing.
