Penang Structure Plan 2030 draft displayed today

The draft plan is being displayed at Level Three in Komtar on Penang Island and the Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) on the mainland.

The longer public display period, which is twice as long as required by law, will enable the state government to receive even more feedback, suggestions and critiques to be “collated, scrutinised and considered”, said local government, housing development and town and country planning committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo.

He was not able to say when the state was able to gazette the finalised PSP 2030, but said the state will follow the “due process provided under the law”.

He added that the state will not rush the process and will consider all the feedback and suggestions as it wanted to ensure that the plan was a “document of quality”.

The PSP 2030 is an update of the PSP 2020 which was gazetted in 2007, and serves to determine the type of development projects allowed in Penang as well as outline its development plans until 2030.

They should really put it on an official website…digital age now. And not everyone can go the venues to have a look. Hope they can disseminate the info more efficiently in order to get more feedback.

totally agree. YES WITHOUT DOUBT this vital information should be put up on official website so that people are able to view from computers etc. My question; Why is it not there? Extremely important for public consultation for a MASTERPLAN up to 200.

please read 2030. any plan for major infrastructure should be available for the public to view in order to access and assess. And without doubt the penang govt. has to evaluate what it can afford to pay for in the way of infrastructure projects, what is priority and what will have to come down the track, rather than make costly mistakes that the general public are left with.

Due diligence is called for by both government and the local population. Meetings should be arranged to meet with the public for explanation and to receive their views in a measured and sensible manner. Those views should be examined before final decisions are made.

We do need infrastructural development in Penang, but we want to be able to have value for money paid, and the very best scheme/plan agreed.
