According to a report in a Chinese daily, the Queens Residences in Bayan Lepas has been experiencing disturbances caused by illegal street racing and modifications made to vehicles’ exhaust systems.

Almost every weekend at midnight, the sound of revving engines can be heard throughout the quiet night, disturbing residents’ sleep. A resident pointed out that this behavior not only causes inconvenience but also poses a safety threat to drivers and other road users. The resident hopes that the authorities will take action against these unhealthy activities.

The resident captured a video of the noise-making vehicles and reported the issue to the police and the Member of Parliament for Bayan Baru, YB Sim Tze Tzin. In response, YB Sim’s special assistant, Chan Soon Aun, stated that the police have taken action against the noise-makers and illegal street racers in response to the complaints. The police have identified several midnight gathering spots and will continue to crack down on these activities. Chan also urged the public, especially parents, to supervise their children and stay away from any illegal or rogue road activities.

According to the Facebook page of the Southwest District Police in Penang, the police conducted a crackdown operation on Saturday and Sunday mornings at locations where illegal street racers often gather, including the Queens Residences on Bayan Indah Road, Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu Expressway, and Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah.

During the operation, the police issued 131 summonses to violators and confiscated 18 motorcycles in accordance with Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. If anyone has any information on such criminal activities, they are encouraged to call the Southwest District Police Operations Room at 04-866 4122 or Whatsapp to 019-2238169.
