Sunway Hills
Sunway Hills, a proposed residential development by Sunway City at Sungai Ara, Penang. Comprises 472 units of apartments, 36 units of duplex condo-villas, 30 units of zero-lot villas and 62 units of villas.
Only 45% of the land will be utilised leaving approximately 35 acres of green land preserved with the original landscape of indigenous trees. It will be turned into a forest sanctuary dotted with jungle trails, foot paths, reading pavilions, tea pavilions, picnic shelters, open decks, observatory, rock garden, orchards, landscaped park and cascading water features and streams.
This is still in its planning stage and pending for approval. More details to be available upon official launch.

10 years ago nobody look at sungai ara as their preferred choice. Now all reputable developers all come here to take share pula… Penang property really crazy liao laa like that…

Totally agree. Hills and trees are the lungs of the environment. Keeps the air cool and puts back oxygen into air during photosynthesis. Penang is being raped bare and the consequences are warmer days and pollution ahead. Have mercy for the next generation!
Why don’t use I-pad and drive a hybrid or carpool? Think positive, think possible. We need to shift our thinking to think green all the time.
Sungai Ara will no longer be a nice and green place to stay with the rampant development. I don’t see any plan for road extension too. The air quality would deteriorate with all these hill projects.
Come one la, you guys living in Penang should love it mar. Shouldn’t be supporting any hill projects. In the end, it’s the developers that get rich and we are the ones who live in a polluted place called home.

Buyers should learn that they have better say than unscrupulous developers. Also, residents should stand up and be adamant that government should build more roads, more facility, and better township planning. By the end of the day, government can change, developers moved from project to project, but we all suffer for generations.

I fully support your statement. It shows that we still have civilized people living in Penang. Say NO to hillside project! We are the ones left behind with the mess, not the government and surely not the filthy rich developers.
Used to stay in Sungai Ara area. Back in 2004-2006, traffic was good. When SP Setia completed their project, traffic is getting worse. Can you imagaine traffic jam will take you 45 mins from factory in Bayan Lepas near Intel back to Sungai Ara? 45 mins also the same amount of time with heavy traffic and slow moving on Penang bridge for me to reach home in BM.
We must all unite in one strong voice to protest against any massive hill project developments that are in contravention of the guidelines gazetted under the RSNPP 2020 Guidelines (Penang Structure Plan) where the hill height is exceeding 250 ft abv sea level n slope gradient exceeding 25 degrees, for the safety of the residents lives and also to preserve the green environment for the future generations. There is no safety provisions in the law that requires the developer to be responsible for the annual geotechnical inspection and maintenance of the engineering structures for a period of 100 years or more as most developers will wash off their responsibility once OC are issued to the purchasers. No experts are able to prevent soil movements caused by climatic changes and mother nature forces and any responsible and caring government should STOP this hill project by Sunway City as even 45% of the hill development area is serious enough to destroy the green lung and pose a potential landslide threat to the Sungai Ara residents lives and properties. The residents committee had a dialogue with the CM Lim Guan Eng on 10 June 2012 and he has given his assurance that this sunway city massive hill project will be referred to the STate Planning Committee which will be chaired by him personally and that he would STOP this project in view of the valid concerns of the residents and the sungai ara community.

Sg Ara previously is a very peaceful village and full of green environment, close relationship in between most of the residence. But now, look at it, what it look like!!! Just like living in hell, hot whether, bad air. If you like that then please Georgetown is welcome for you. Just move to Georgetown area.
